# PowersportOS — Press Kit

*Version 1.0 · Last updated May 2026*

## At a glance

PowersportOS is the operating layer for European powersport retail —
the catalog, fitment, and integration infrastructure that retailers,
manufacturers, and distributors of ATV, UTV, motorcycle, and snowmobile
parts use to run their commerce.

Operated by **Umbr AB**, an independent Swedish software company.
Currently in private beta with a small group of dealers, manufacturers,
and distributors. Public launch follows once early customers are
well-served and the operational rhythm is established.

## The 30-second version

The European powersport aftermarket — €10B+ annually across ATVs, UTVs,
motorcycles, snowmobiles — has been served by tools built for the
automotive sector. Submodel precision, generation awareness, model-year
gaps, OEM cross-references, dealer-network distribution — handled
poorly or not at all.

PowersportOS is the platform built for it specifically. Three audiences
overlap on it: retailers running storefronts (single-store or multi-
location chains), brands and importers maintaining catalog content,
and distributors who sit between the brands and the retailers as the
channel layer.

Each audience gets fit-for-purpose tooling on shared infrastructure.
A retailer's product page shows submodel-precise YMM. A manufacturer's
own site shows "find this part at a reseller near you" with live stock.
A multi-location retail chain shows per-store availability on every
product page — a feature normally only enterprise has.

---

## Why it matters

The supply chain in powersport aftermarket loses days of manual work
per relationship per year on data that already exists somewhere else
and just needs to flow.

- **Brands** spend their content-marketing budget on photo packages
and product descriptions that 80% of their retailers retype.
- **Distributors** lose deals to other distributors because their
retailer customers won't onboard yet another brand worth 4 days of
  manual product setup.
- **Retailers** carry less of what their suppliers offer because the
onboarding tax is real, then lose sales because customers find the
wrong part for their bike's submodel.
- **End customers** return parts, write angry reviews, switch shops.

PowersportOS removes that tax. One catalog, maintained once, distributed
pristine to every downstream party. Submodel-precise fitment so the
right part lands the first time. Stock visibility across the network
so demand routes to where supply exists.

It's the same architectural pattern Stripe applied to payments and
Shopify to commerce, applied to the catalog-content layer of powersport
aftermarket. Not a marketplace, not a directory — infrastructure.

## Product summary

PowersportOS is delivered as a bundled package: backend API, customer
portal, admin interface, Shopify theme, and Shopify app. Customers
sign up for one of five tenant types (Standard, Manufacturer, Reseller,
Hybrid, Retail) and get fit-for-purpose tooling for their business shape.

### Modules currently live

- **YMM search** — submodel- and generation-aware vehicle selectors
- **Dealer map** — interactive store locator with country filtering
  and automatic geocoding
- **Multi-tenant catalog** — central parts database with brand
subscriptions; retailers get the brands they carry, nothing else
- **Retail multi-location** — per-store stock pushed via API,
  customer-facing nearest-store widget
- **Reseller stock network** — opt-in stock-sharing across
manufacturers and resellers, Haversine-sorted "find this part
  nearby" queries
- **PowersportOS Shopify App** — one-click install, OAuth + webhook
registration handled automatically, real-time inventory sync
- **Brand entity & metadata** — first-class catalog content with logos,
websites, contact info, country of origin

### On the roadmap

- **Shopify product push (Phase D)** — bidirectional sync from
PowersportOS catalog to customer's Shopify products; the wedge for
  distributor partnerships
- **B2B pricing tiers** — customer-group pricing, login-gated catalogs
- **Customer garages** — end customers save their vehicles, only see
  compatible products across visits
- **DISTRIBUTOR tenant type** — distinct from Manufacturer and Hybrid,
with delegated brand-content permissions for distributors maintaining
catalog data on behalf of brands they represent

## Market & positioning

PowersportOS is a vertical SaaS with network effects layered on, not
a marketplace. The standalone tools are best-in-class for the
powersport niche — a single customer with no network around them gets
full value from day one. Network effects (reseller stock aggregation,
manufacturer ↔ reseller graph, shared catalog growth) are an
accelerator that multiplies value as the platform grows, not the
foundation.

### Why this matters strategically

- **No cold-start problem.** Customer #1 gets full value immediately.
- **Pricing power from day one.** The tool is worth real money
standalone; we charge accordingly rather than gymnastics around
  "grow first, monetize later".
- **Defense against deep-pocketed competitors.** A pure marketplace
can be replicated by a giant willing to subsidize supply. A
best-in-class tool plus network effects requires beating both.
- **Easier sales motion.** "Switch for the best YMM widget" is
concrete; "switch to be on the network" is speculative.

### Geographic & vertical scope

Powersports first, Europe first. The architecture is generic — the
same data model supports marine, agricultural, garden equipment, and
any vertical where YMM-style fitment matters and dealers cluster
geographically. But spreading thin before dominating one is how every
SaaS fails at both. Expansion is theoretically downstream; not on the
near-term roadmap.

## About Umbr AB

Umbr AB is an independent Swedish software company, registered office
in Sweden, EU. Org. number 559512-5252. VAT SE559512525201.

No outside investors. No parent corporation. Independent and
profitable by design — building toward sustainable cash-flow positivity
before scaling team.

### Team background

The team behind PowersportOS brings **seven years of powersport-industry
experience** on top of **nine years in the automotive aftermarket** —
both sides of the same fitment-data problem, lived from inside the
supply chain rather than studied from the outside.

Long-running hands-on experience with the e-commerce platforms our
customers actually run: Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Magento.
Different generations of the same product-data and integration patterns,
the same gaps in how aftermarket-fitment is handled by general-purpose
commerce tooling. PowersportOS is the tooling we wanted to exist.
